memorial day weekend

We had a great Memorial Day weekend.  Travis took off Friday so he had a long four day break.  Asher and I loved having him at home for that long.  Friday we loaded up in the morning and went to the Knoxville Zoo.  Now I love Knoxville but their zoo is terrible compared to the Memphis Zoo.  While living in Memphis we went several times with friends and I went every year with my 1st graders on a field trip.  I know the Memphis Zoo.  It's one of the top in the country and I completely agree.

Asher loved pointing at all of the animals he spotted.  {Pointing is one of his newest tricks.}  The weather was a little chilly and we felt like terrible parents because we didn't pack his jacket.  He didn't seem to mind one bit.

He enjoyed running free and having so many different things to look at.

And of course he found a stick.  Kid loves sticks.

We made it home just in time for his afternoon nap.  After we all rested a little, we started our weekend projects.  Mulching needed to be done.  After two trips with a total of six scoops it was done.  It's crazy what a little bit of mulch will do for your landscaping soul.

Saturday we swam in our pool a little with Josie and Charlie.  We then all loaded up and went to GJ and Papaw's for dinner and a boat ride.

Captains Asher Man and Papaw

Last year Asher was a little statue whenever he was riding the boat.  He didn't know what to think about the whole experience.  This year was a different story.  He made no less than 1,000 laps up and down the boat.  Laughing and giggling all the way.

These two = true best buds.  Their love is real and super sweet.  Always happy to be together.

Sunday we went to our church and heard a great sermon on wisdom then came home and relaxed.  The rest of Sunday and most of Monday was spent mostly poolside or painting.  We sanded and painted Miss Maeve's crib this weekend.  Click here to see the finished product.

Happy Summertime from this little Stud.
