Studying

Study, study, study!  Travis has his second big test tomorrow.  He started studying for this test about 2 days after his last test.  He has a test every three weeks on Mondays.  Each test contains about 100 questions from all of his current classes.  It is very different from undergrad, he doesn't have a test in each class, just one HUGE test.  He did really good on his first test but of course he thinks he can do better this time.  Such a perfectionist.  =)  He has all of his class notes on his laptop.  His method for studying is either on the couch, at the table, outside on the deck, or in the guest bedroom with his mp3 player.  I don't know how he concentrates while listening to music but it works for him.  I thought he looked so cute sitting outside with his glasses so I decided to sneak a picture!!

Momma and Sum come to visit...

This weekend, my mom and my sister came to see us!  It was great having them here.  They came Thursday-Saturday.  Friday, they took Travis out to lunch...while I worked!  Not fair.  They came by my school that afternoon and met some of the ladies I teach with and got to meet all of my babies.  First graders LOVE visitors.  I told them that Summer was going to have  a baby and they loved hearing that.  Some of the girls gave Summer suggestions about names.  We took them to Central BBQ that night for supper.  They honestly have the best barbeque.  After supper, mom, Summer, and I headed to Old Navy.  Travis has a test on Monday so he headed home to study.  What a good student!  Saturday morning us girls headed back out for some shopping!  We didn't take a lot of pictures, we were too busy laughing and being crazy.  I miss them like crazy and it was great having them here!!

3-1

Let's Go Duke!!  Let's Go Duke!!  Let's Go Duke!!
Today Duke beat Virginia, another ACC school, 31-3.  This win was HUGE.  Anyone who watches football knows how important it is to beat other teams in your conference.  This is the first time since 1989 that Duke has held another ACC team to that low of a score.  UVA had 5...5 turnovers!!!  What a game.  Travis and I listened to it on XM radio because Duke games are not on tv.  Maybe since they are doing good they will start getting some well deserved attention.  They are now 3-1.  =)

Birthday!!

Friday was Trav's 27th birthday!  He wanted me to bake him a yellow cake with chocolate icing.  I am not a very good cook but anything for the birthday boy!  Even though his birthday was on Friday, we didn't really celebrate his birthday until today.  His parents and niece, Sidney, came down this weekend for a visit.  I am normally really good at taking pictures but didn't take any because I felt awful all weekend.  Judy took a few when we went to UT's campus to show them where Travis is all day.  I will hopefully get those pictures soon!  I have not been feeling good for the past few days, at first I thought it was strep but I am feeling much better today and hoping it was just a little bug!  Anyways, happy birthday honey!  I am so proud of you and love you more everyday!!  You are my sunshine.

The reasons I love my life!

The number 27 (a little uneven but it tasted soo good!!)

Make a wish

After Reecie and I sang, "Happy Birthday!"

Duke's First Home Game

Last Saturday, August 30 (my Momma's birthday) was Duke's first home football game vs. James Madison!!  Travis and I flew out on Saturday morning at 8:00 Central time and arrived in Durham at 11:15 Eastern time!  It was a quick flight!!  My aunt, Karen, Katie, and Em picked us up from the airport.  It was great to get to see them, we haven't seen them since we all went to Destin.  We headed to their house to hang out to wait on Mom, Dad, Mamaw Oran, Sum, and Mike to get there.  Once they arrived we all headed to Duke to tailgate.  It is a whole new atmosphere there, they don't understand football like Tennesseans!  Until now, Duke has been all about basketball.  Duke football games are never sold out and have never been that big of a deal.  That has all changed!!!  There were over 32,000 people at the game.  =)  It was great!!!  The game was suppose to start at 7:00 but because of a rain storm there was a 90 minute delay.  David walked out from the tunnel and went to the student section.  He told them to please wait out the storm, it would be worth it and that the team needed them there!  No one moved!!  Kickoff was at 8:30!  Duke won there FIRST home game since 2005.  Duke 31 JMU 7. This post is a week late and Duke played against Northwestern tonight at 7:00 and they lost 24-20...Trav and I listened to it on XM radio.  Let's Go DUKE!
