maeve at five months

Maeve Caroline, you have been in our world for five months.  Time with you has flown by at incredible speed.  You are no longer a little bitty baby.  You are such a big girl.  You change every single day and I feel like you are about to start making some huge changes in the next few weeks.  There's so much you are about to start doing.

{Above picture...Life with a big brother!}

You are trying really hard to sit up.  You can, kinda, for a short minute but you are pretty hunched over.  You enjoy tummy time a little more these days.  You look like a little turtle with you head up.  Changing your diaper isn't as easy as it used to be.  You are starting to be a little wiggle worm.  You've never minded having your diaper changed which is great for us.  But you're not a fan of putting on a shirt.  We try to do that quickly.

You are extremely happy first thing in the morning.  When we poke over your crib you are all smiles and shake all over.  You are the happiest.  I swear your crib is magical, we lay you down and you fall to sleep almost instantly.  You do cry every once in a while but not often.  You are in bed by 7:30-7:45 and wake-up anytime between 8:30-9:45.  You do sometimes wake-up a little earlier and will talk and play for a few minutes but 9 times out of 10 times you go right back and sleep a little longer.

Your little cheeks are red and dry all the time because you suck your thumb.  You have dry skin spots on both thumbs.  You only suck your thumb when your sleepy.  We aren't worried about this habit because it's so cute and hopefully you won't do it forever.

Your hair is turning blonde.  Well, it's getting lighter.  I don't think it will ever be as blonde as mine but it will be close.  You are getting that little bald spot on the back of your head.  You are getting used to your exersaucer.  We put towels under it for your feet because your still too short.  You haven't figured out how to bounce but you are finding the toys to play with.

You have recently found your toes.  They are hard to grab because your legs are so chunky.  You will roll over on your side to grab toys but haven't made it all the way to your belly yet.  You will do that very soon I think.

You are madly in love with your brother.  You're his number 1 fan!  It scares us how much you watch him.  He loves you just as much.  You giggle the hardest when Daddy plays with you.  You think he's really funny.  You are Mommy's best girl and always give me your best smiles.  You are quite the chatterbox and sometimes scream really loud when excited.

You eat a little cereal once a day.  It's mostly a morning or afternoon snack.  You are getting more used to it and figuring out how to work your tongue.  We are going to introduce more foods to you very soon.

We don't know what we did to deserve such a good baby.  I pray that when you start teething it doesn't effect your sleep.  Thanks for being wonderful you.

adult vacation

Last Friday we headed down south with my sister, Summer, and her husband Mike for an adults only vacation.  Honestly, I'd been counting down the days until our trip for a while.  Being couped up in the house due to freezing cold weather and watching Shrek one thousand times a day was starting to make me a little crazy.  Asher and I weren't getting along quite so well on many days.  I know that sounds bizarre saying that my two year old and I were "fighting" but we were.  Anyways, I we needed a break from each other.  I feared that one of us wouldn't survive these next few winter weeks..

We stayed Friday-Wednesday at Excellence Playa Mujeres right outside of Cancun, Mexico.  It's an all inclusive, adults only resort.  It was absolutely gorgeous!  Our rooms were super big and definitely made to accommodate couples.

It's a little blurry but we were happy to be greeted with champagne!

Our home for the week.

Hot tub in room.  You could crawl into it from the room or the patio.  Very cool.

Super comfy bed out on the patio.

Our amazing view.

We spent our days laying by the ocean drinking adult drinks and singing "if you like pina colada's…"

Girl talk by the Atlantic.

Had a yummy drink from a pineapple.

We ate lunch ocean side most days, but we did hit up The Grill a time or two.

One day we took a walk to the lighthouse that was about a half-mile away from our resort.

{My sister's body is stupid hot after having two kids.}

These little nasty creatures were everywhere on the way out to the lighthouse.

We even found some of these little creatures on our resort.

We spent all Monday morning at the spa.  One word, heaven!  Before this trip, Trav had never had a spa experience.  Well, he got a four hour experience in Mexico.  Our first hour was an Aqua Therapy treatment.  The four of us did it together. It's where they put you in a sauna, dump ice water on you, sit you in a steam room, have you walk in a hot/cold plunge pool, sit you in front of various massage jets and cascades in a pool that target specific areas.  After the ice water and plunge pool experience, Trav looked at us three and said, "and we paid for this?"  So funny.  After Aqua Therapy we all went upstairs for our couples massages and facials.  This was by far my favorite part.  I love facials and cannot until I can treat myself to one every month.  We had an hour massage and hour facial.  Pure bliss.

We laughed and laughed at Trav's hair.  We all look extremely tired and relaxed after being at the spa literally all morning.

Every evening, after FaceTiming our little ones, we dressed up and went down for dinner.  The resort had about ten restaurants to choose from.  We ate somewhere different every night.  I think I gained ten pounds while in Mexico.

{I hate night-time iPhone pictures.  The quality is so terrible.  No one took a good camera because we didn't want to worry with it while traveling, it getting wet by the ocean/pool or having to keep up with it.  Some of my favorite photos are us at dinner but the quality is so terrible.}

One night, we took our drinks and found a comfy bed by the ocean.

Monday night after dinner at the French restaurant we went to one of the shows.  It was very entertaining to Sum and I but the boys weren't impressed.  So, we decided to hit up the dance club.  There was less than ten people there but we still had so much fun.  The Hatfield girls love to dance!  We got pulled up on stage and had a blast.

We didn't spend much time in our room but I was so pumped to stumble across my all time favorite show.

We had the best trip but were all smiles as we were heading back to the states!

This trip could not have come at a better time.  It was seriously what I we needed right when we needed it.  We so enjoyed our adult time, sleeping in late {till 8:30}, eating dinner at 8:00 at night, enjoying adult drinks, dancing, laughing and laying out by the ocean literally all day long.  But with all of that said, we were beyond ready to get home to our favorite people in the world.  Being away from Asher and Maeve only made me appreciate my time with them more.  I'm so blessed to be able stay at home with them every day.  Maybe watching Shrek one thousand times a day isn't so bad?  But I do believe that every Mommy and Daddy need a break every now and then.  It's good for the soul and makes you appreciate everything about the little people in your life.  Crazy days and all.

first taste.

Maeve had her first taste of cereal this morning.  I was so excited when Asher was old enough for food and I was just as excited with little Miss.  She took right to it and gobbled up a little.  She didn't eat a whole lot, we want to make sure her belly can handle it.  I cannot wait to introduce her to more and more foods.  I'm going to attempt making her food.  I'll let you know how it goes..

Daddy feeding her her first bites.

random warm day

After days and days of nasty cold weather, we finally had a wonderfully nice day.  It was sunny and 60.  Sixty felt like 90 compared to the 5 degrees we had at the beginning of the week.  Asher went outside and loved every minute of it.  He was on cloud nine.

This boy was extremely happy.  Outside and he found a huge stick.

I even got him to stand still for one second and hold my hand for a picture.

He looks so grown-up.

"Here Mommy, a stick."

Trying to get a picture of all four of our shadows.

{Asher, Trav, Maeve and Me}

My loves.  Maeve at 4.5 months and Asher at 3.5 months.

Is it spring yet?
