These two wild kiddos are growing every day and my heart hurts at how old they both are... I know they are still little but I look at them every day and wonder where the time has gone. Bare with me as I brag on them for a few minutes.
Maeve is the wildest, silliest, sweetest, meanest, best thing ever. She is so pretty that I just want to stare at her all day. At least once a day, Trav and I mention how pretty she is. I know she's ours and we are totally biased but we just love this girl.
Right now she's all about her Momma. Don't get me wrong, she loves loves her Daddy but Mommy is her number one. For the moment at least. I know this phase will soon pass and she will look at me like I'm an idiot and not want to be around me but I'm trying to soak it up right now. Even when my body is sore from her constant touches I'm thankful she's choosing me right now.
She loves to laugh and be silly. Her laughter and gaped tooth grin makes us giggle. I had a grin just like that when I was little and I love that she gets that from me. Sister is very girly, loves dolls, jewelry, wearing princess dresses but she also loves to be outside, put her hands in the dirt and get messy when she's eating.
Now, this boy. Oh this boy. He is my favorite guy in the world. He is a nutball with the best and biggest heart. He can be such a sweetheart, when he wants to be, and a total booger when he wants to be. The life with a threenager, so I've heard it called. He can clearly communicate with us and tell us what he wants/doesn't want but he can also get frustrated when things don't go his way. His behavior is much better I think now that's he's three and understands a lot more then he did a few months or even a year ago.
He loves to "cheeeese" for the camera, unlike sister. Then he loves looking at himself in the camera. Whatever it takes to get a perfect grin like this! He also has some outstanding manners. He loves to say "thank you mommy/daddy", "welcome", "good job mommy/daddy/maeve, good job!" "be careful". Heart of gold this one. He even told me "good job listening mommy" one day, which made me so happy because I know he's at least listening to me when I'm talking to him. He loves to open the doors for us and complete strangers.
We think he's the world's best big brother. For many reasons such as always giving sister big bear hugs (that are sometimes a little too tight and hurt), for loving Maeve so much, for teaching Maeve to be one tough cookie, for always looking out for her and taking care of her. You can tell that he genuinely loves to be around her. He loves to say, "maeve hug." or "maeve, get me asher!"
{teenagers in little people bodies.}
{watching them drive around the yard is hard.. it's like looking into the future and seeing my two teenagers drive away together.}
Asher has definitely shared his love of the outdoors with Maeve. She loves being outside. I see many camping and outdoor activities in our near future. I guess Mommy's going to have to learn to embrace it for these two!
His smile and kisses on the mouth or licks on the mouth as of lately, can make your entire day great. He loves to make us laugh and he loves to wrestle and be mean. One of his favorite phrases, 'daddy let's wrestle'. He turns into an animal when he's wrestling. Pretending to be a 'yion' is his favorite. The rougher you are with this boy the better. But he also loves to cuddle up with mommy and have his belly/back tickled.
Girlfriend doesn't always want to smile for the camera. Most of the time she'll run away from me and say, "no cheese." Besides that she does have great manners for a almost two year old. She loves to say, "thanchew mommy/daddy" and "peas." She can say nana, poppy, gj, papaw, shasher (asher), sissy (reecie), ruff ruff (for dog), outside, no, stuck, jojo, charlie, puppy, baby just to name a few. She's really starting to talk a lot, we are afraid she'll never stop.
Even though we have crazy days where all I do is watch the clock until nap time, wait for Daddy to get home and pray for their 8:00 bedtime to roll around...I wouldn't change a thing. The days of spankings, crying, yelling (for all of us) only makes us closer and a better family. We have to make it through the hard times to really appreciate the good.
Thankful these two call me Mommy.
