39 weeks and waiting

{My last post I wrote before Maeve joined our family, I forgot to post it..Better late than never.}

Sweet Maeve.  Mommy and GJ got to see you for a few minutes last week.  You were very sweet this time around and gave us a quick glimpse of your face.  Looks like you might have my nose, like your brother, and possibly my big bottom lip!  You might just might look like me after all.  You were measuring right at 7lbs.  We cannot wait to meet you.  If you do not come by Sunday evening, then we are going in early Monday morning to have you.  I really hope you come on your own but we will have  to wait and see what you decide to do.  You are still very active.  You kick, move, hiccup all the time.  We are a little scared that you are going to be a wild child.

39 week ultrasound

Happy 39 weeks.  Officially my last belly picture.

For our last weekend as a family of three, we decided to be l-a-z-y!  Since things are about to get crazy, why not?  Right?  Plus your brother has been a little under the weather these past few days.  He's on some antibiotics and we are praying that he gets well enough to come and meet you on your birthday.

Before heading to Chick-Fil-A for our last family of three date night, we snapped a few photos..

I love this boy.

My boys are excited to meet their new lady!

We love Chick-Fil-A.  Why?  Because they are always super friendly, help you with everything, do not mind if your child acts a fool and they clean up after you.  Win.

After dinner, we all crashed out on the couch and watched Asher's new favorite movie, Madagascar.  Thanks to this hilarious movie, Asher now loves to spit and laugh.  Thank you Madagascar, thank you.

Come on girlfriend.  We are ready!!

nursery done, now all we need is a little girl..

Maeve's room is completely ready, minus a few extra touches that will just have to wait until her arrival.  My idea for her room was sweet, soft and simple.  I didn't want anything to wild and crazy.  The colors I chose were coral (which looks pink in all of the pictures!), minty green, gray and white.

I found her curtain fabric at Fabric World in Knoxville, which is now Short Sheets.  Travis' Mom, Maeve's Nana, made her curtains.  I love them.  The really add color to her room.

{See her packed bag and boppy sitting on the floor?  We are ready!}

I snagged some super cheap white frames from IKEA a few months back and cannot wait to fill them with pictures of her.  Her dresser is also from IKEA.  I love it.  It has tons of space and is already pretty full.

My sister passed down her glider that she used with both Josie and Charlie.  The "LOVE is all around" pillow that I bought from twiggs designs on ETSY is probably one of my favorite things in her room.  I hope Maeve always knows that she is truly one loved little girl.

I searched and searched for the perfect lamp for her room.  In my mind, I knew exactly what I wanted but it took me forever to find it.  Guess which store came to my rescue?  Yep!  Target.  I mixed and matched the shade with the base and love it.

Her cork board has printables from Echoes of Mercy, also on ETSY .  Check out her ETSY page and see how you can help her on her foster care adventure.

On the other side of her room is her crib.  Her crib, like the glider, was Josie and Charlie's.  It was a dark brown but we painted it white.  The cubbies, baskets and rug are all from IKEA.

I had left over fabric from her curtains and knew I couldn't let it go to waste.  Thanks to Carrie, I found Joyce with The Polka Dot Butterfly, who made me this burlap banner.  The bows and ribbons are all from Maeve's Sprinkle.  Look her up on Facebook, she has super cute things.

I kept her bedding very very simple.  Her crib sheet and skirt are from ETSY.  I didn't get her a bumper.  Asher never slept with his cute bumper because we were terrified that he would suffocate.  He has a breathable one which isn't the cutest but it's safe.  We are going to wait and see what we want to do with her.

On top of her cubbies is this printable.  It's from Echoes of Mercy also.

And of course her closet.  Full of all things girly!!  We've been very lucky and have hardly bought Maeve a single thing to wear.  It's great to have a sister who has a girl and friends to swap clothes with!  {Maeve has no closet door because Asher loved playing with it and smashing his fingers.}

I'm a little obsessed with baskets right now and snagged several from Garden Ridge to help keep her closet organized.

We cannot wait for our little lady to get here and live in her room.  Not much longer..

less than a week..

We are officially under the 1 week mark until we meet Maeve.  We could not be more excited.  We've been busy these past few days getting everything ready for her arrival.  If she doesn't come on her own this week, which I really hope she does, then we go in on Monday, August 26 to have her.  Right now, this week, I'm enjoying my time with Asher.  Taking in every moment that just he and I have together.

Trav and I had our last date night last week.  I think we talked about Asher and Maeve the entire night and how much our lives were about to change.  We are very excited to start this next chapter but also very nervous.  Two kiddos under two, yikes!  To be honest, neither of us are looking forward to the next 6 weeks.  We both love to sleep and we know that that's about to come to a complete stop very soon.  But every minute is worth it.

This room cannot wait to have her little self in it.

We went out with some friends the other night for one last hoorah.  We celebrated Annie and Jake's upcoming wedding and Maeve's arrival.  It was like a breath of fresh air to be out with friends and baby less, well kinda baby less.

Amy, Summer and Me

My sister.

The boys did join us for dinner but we couldn't get them to be serious for one second to snap a picture.  I've known these girls for most of my life and cannot wait to introduce Maeve to them!  Being around these girls makes my heart smile.

They decided to love on her just a little..

Then they got a little crazy.  That always happens with this crew.  Silliness, always.  Maeve and I were exhausted when the night was over.  Belly laughing non-stop for several hours will do that to you.  But man is it good for the soul.

20 months

20 months and loving it.  This is such a fun fun age, let me tell you.  Asher, here's what is going on with you right now..

You are so funny.  You have already mastered the "my parents embarrass me" look.  {See picture below for proof.}  You are getting a little bit sneaky in your old age.  You love sneaking off and climbing into your rocking chair and rocking as hard as you can.  The wall is full of red marks and scratches, made with love, right??

Here's a little flashback.  This was our first monthly photo in our East Tn home.  Look at your tiny little self.  I don't remember you this small, is that bad?

First thing we do every morning is eat breakfast.  For about a week straight you couldn't do anything without your glasses on.  You tend to go through spells.  You will wear them 24/7 for days and then forget about them for a while.  I hope the green tent isn't hurting your vision.  You normally eat a good breakfast.  You love bananas, cheerios, milk, cereal bars, waffles (most days), muffins, bagels.  Normally you eat a good lunch.  Cheese sticks are a favorite.  Dinner, not so much.  Normally your dinners are not very nutritious.  You love walking into the pantry and finding what you want and bringing it to us.

You.love.your.Daddy.

You've turned into quite the little snuggle bug these past few weeks.  Mommy is loving it.  You still don't like my enormous belly but don't mind using it as a pillow somedays.  I think you know that something is about to change in our family and you are soaking up all the one-on-one lovin' you can get.  I don't mind one bit.

This was the last day you used your pacis.  Yep, you've been paci free for almost 2 weeks now!  Isn't that awesome?  You've done so amazing.  We are so proud of you and how big you are.  You don't fight naps or bedtime anymore, that only lasted a few days thank goodness.  You haven't thrown Nemo overboard in a while and he is very thankful.  You do however like to try and take your pjs off sometimes..

Walks are still a favorite of yours.  You tend to do better if we are on the trail because the scenery is prettier and ever changing.  But you do ok when we go to the track.  We haven't been able to walk a whole lot lately because Mommy's belly is too big.  You love seeing your pal, Carson, and pointing at him.  You make the same sound when you see him.  I think you know he's your buddy.

Like I said before, snuggle bug!

You are slowly starting to love the lake water.  You are getting fearless when it comes to swimming and that scares me just a little.  You like to stick your tongue out and try to drink the lake/pool water.  Yuck.  You are doing great with your swimmies and have no problem walking up and down the pool steps.  You like getting on the third step and then jumping off.

You took your first official jet ski ride with Mommy!  A few weeks back we tried to put you on with Daddy but you wouldn't have it.  This time, success!  You loved it.  We didn't go fast at all, we didn't want to hurt Maeve.  Next summer, you and me buddy, we are going to go tubing.  Cannot wait.

Your favorite thing about Papaw's boat?  Being the captain and pushing all of the buttons.  You and Charlie are finally starting to really pay attention to each other and play together.  It's a sweet thing to watch.  He will actually hug you back every once in a while and you love it.

You don't care if it's 30 degrees outside or blazing hot.  You love it.  You love playing in the dirt, eating sticks, smacking leaves and bushes, finding rocks, the list goes on.  If it's outside, you love it.

You are kinda starting to pay more attention to books these days.  You don't just want to rip the pages anymore.  Your favorite way to move through out the house is on your 4-wheeler.  Man, can you fly on that thing.  You are super smart!  You say "dee" for deer, "nee" for bunny, "mmm" for bird.  You clap and shout at Reecie when trying to get her attention.  You still love saying "hiiiiiii" and "bye".  You say please, more and thank you in sign language.  You love blowing kisses and have recently starting giving kisses on the lips.  You will hug and kiss when they are leaving.  You catch on to new things we are trying to teach you very quickly.

You are doing so great at church and school.  You sometimes get upset but are fine within a few seconds.  Whenever we pick you up you have the best smile on your face.  Melts our hearts.  You are learning so so much from being around other kiddos.  You are truly thriving.

You love carrying your school things.  You look so grown-up when you do.  Whenever Mommy comes to pick you up, you are extremely happy to see me and you babble in the car the entire way home.  I think you are trying to tell me how wonderful your day was.  At home, you will sometimes put your hands behind your back when you walk like you do at school.  It's the cutest thing.

You are watching every little thing we do these days.  You want to copy our every move.  I cut your fingernails and toenails the other day.  A day or so later I found you in the kitchen trying to do it yourself.

We love our time together.  We watch Finding Nemo at least once a day.  You will normally sit still and watch at least 30-45 minutes of it at a time and snuggle with Mommy.  It's probably my favorite time of the day.

You love your cousins and love when they come over to play.  You are going to have so much fun growing up with them.  Josie loves to boss you and Charlie around and y'all love to ignore her.  She loves you so much and you love her just the same.  Great memories will be made.

And for the 100th time, you love to snuggle.  You thought I was lying didn't you?  Nope.

Asher, you are what makes our world go round.  You make everyone around you smile and laugh just by being you.  Please don't ever change.  You are going to be a big brother very very soon.  We cannot wait to see you love on Maeve.  You are going to do great and be the best big brother.  Keep being wild.

philippians 4:6-7

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation,  by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Jesus Christ." Philippians 4:6-7

I've read that verse over and over again during this pregnancy.  Patience and pregnant don't mix very well.  I'm really struggling these last few weeks playing the waiting game.  I know it is completely out of my control and God has his hands all over it.  He knows the minute and the day that Maeve will decide to come, for he has already decided that.  He knows her heart.  He knows what she looks like, how big she is, the color of her eyes, even if she will take her first breath.  Knowing that helps me.  I'm so very thankful that he has kept her growing in my belly all this time.  I cannot wait to meet her and introduce myself to her as her Momma.

About a month ago, Travis and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary.  It seems crazy to me that this man has chosen to be around me for 8.5 years.  I thought I loved him 7 years ago.  I had no idea.  We've experienced a lot together.  The good, the bad and the ugly.  I wouldn't have it any other way.
