Of course it snows on Saturday, any luck it will stay around until Monday?? It's crazy to believe that a few days ago it was 70 degrees/sunny and now it is snowing!! Memphis weather is crazy. It is a good day for snow, Travis has been in the Anatomy lab since 9 this morning and I've been cleaning the apartment! I guess all I can say is, "let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!" =)

Shopping Success!!
I had a wonderful day today!! The weather in Memphis was nice, mid 50s and sunny so I decided to make the most of it. I was out of school because it's President's Day and I have in-service tomorrow. It's a good 2 day break from my kiddies. It was great to sleep in, even though sleeping in is now 9:00. What happened to the days when I wouldn't move until 10:30-11:00?? Oh well, my day started by picking up Travis and we heading to Lenny's. After dropping him back off at school, I went shopping. First I went to Old Navy and cashed in my Christmas gift card from my wonderful MIL (mother-in-law), next I went to New York & Co in Oak Court Mall..no luck there. Made my way to Target and bought two adorable summer dresses and my last stop was Pier 1. I've been wanting some new decorations for our master bedroom and our guest bedroom. Both rooms were in orange (no, not because of the Vols, I was just in the orange mood at the time). I changed the guest bedroom to green. I am still needing new curtains, more pillows, and big shams for the bed. I have to buy a few at a time or Travis will kill me! =) Once I got back on the Island, I stopped at Miss Cordelias, a little grocery store, and bought supplies for lasagna and we invited Kyle over for dinner. Travis and I did P90X while the lasagna was cooking. We are now in week 5!!
Guest (need more pillows...)
Those pillows will look much better on a new/bigger mattress, right Momma!! =)

Catch Phrase Queens!!
Friday before Valentine's Day we went out to eat with some D1 friends (Julie and Charles, Kendall and Keith, Lauren and Chip). After dinner in West Memphis at Margaritas, we headed over to the Joneses for dessert and games. Kendall had made wonderful desserts (see her blog for more pictures) for us to snack on. I honestly cannot tell you which one was my favorite...
We kicked off game night with several rounds of Catch Phrase. I am pretty sure we beat the boys 7-1 the first round. We dominated!!! Boys sometimes have trouble breaking down the clues. For instance, Travis had to describe "green ketchup". He was stumped. I had to help him by explaining, "Honey, you say the grass is this color____ and you put this on your french fries_____." You get "green ketchup!" The boys got tired of losing so we moved on to Mad Gab. They did much better with this game and I think in the end they may MAY have won overall. We had a blast and I think we have all pretty much decided to make this a regular event. Thanks Kendall for taking the pics, hope you don't mind me borrowing some for my page! =)

Who Needs A Fancy Restaurant?
This year, Travis and I decided to take it easy on Valentine's Day. We had talked and decided that we would not get each other anything, we plan to really celebrate when he graduates in 3 and 1/2 years!! Saturday morning we slept in and then cleaned the house. He planned to cook dinner. He went grocery shopping on Tuesday and got some of my favorite things!! That afternoon, I took my usual Saturday nap and he got busy grilling. Before dinner we both got dressed, I wanted to get dressed as if we were going out to eat, I didn't want to celebrate in my jammies. =) After supper we watched, "Definitely, Maybe". Thanks honey for a wonderful Valentine's Day!

2nd Place
My school had a Science Fair last week, "Inquiring Minds Want to Know". My class wanted to know, "Does Holding A Mirror In Front of A Fish Change How A Fish Acts?" We had 2 Betta fish (both male), a crowntail and a halfmoon. We talked about the fish, fed them, and observed them for a while. When then put the mirror in front of each fish. Neither Betta liked looking at itself in the mirror!! They both put their fins and gills out which REALLY excited my kids (1st graders). After observing and watching how the fishes reacted we got busy decorating our board. I let the students do ALL the work. We talked about our hypothesis, the materials we used, the different variables, the procedure, our results, and the conclusion. 16 out of 17 students DID think that the fish would act differently. We came up with our answers together and I assigned my best hand writers to get started writing our answers on tablet paper. Other students were decorating the headings, question marks, and adding boarder to our board. I really didn't do any work (which was great). Our board was out for everyone to see all of last week and on Friday they announced the winners: 1st place--a 3rd grade class, 2nd place-Mrs. Sisco's 1st grade class!!!! We all threw our arms up in the air and were shouting with excitement. Once the announcements were over we did our "happy dance". The students asked if we were going to have a party to celebrate, I said, "of course..Monday". I was explaining to them what a great accomplishment it was to be 2nd in the whole school and how it was all because of their hard work, team work, and great observations and how proud I was that they did it and won and one of my little girls said, "well Mrs. Sisco, you did help a little!!" What a sweetie. We celebrated with cookies and juice on Monday. It's great to seem them all so happy and proud of themselves! Little things make my day and job so much easier! =)
Our board ready to enter the fair...

he's just NOT that into you...

Last night, Travis and I went with 3 other couples to go see the movie, "He's Just Not That Into You". I was super excited because I read the book almost 4 years ago (as soon as it came out) and LOVED it!! It is so true and says things that you really don't want to hear but you NEED to hear. The movie was pretty good, not my favorite. There were many many great actors and actresses in the film. Jennifer Aniston of course was another reason I was excited about seeing the movie. If you haven't read the book or seen the movie I suggest the book first!! The boys really didn't enjoy the movie as much as the girls, so don't take your husband or man...definitely a girl's night movie.
Engagement Party in Oxford
This past weekend, my parents came into town for a short visit. My cousin, Chris and his fiance Molly, were having their engagement party in Oxford Saturday night. Mom and Dad arrived in Memphis Friday night. Saturday morning/afternoon, Mom and I took Reecie to get her nails cut and then the four of us headed downtown. We took them buy UT-Memphis so they can see where Travis is everyday and get a feel for downtown Memphis. We then headed to Central BBQ to eat (which is one of our favorite places to eat!!!). After a late lunch, we drove to Oxford, Mississippi which is a little over an hour away. Mom and Dad headed back east the next morning. This does not count as their official visit, it was way to short!!
