I always love having my parents in town. We try to do something new and fun every time they are in town. On this weekend's agenda: WICKED and Graceland.
Thursday, my parents arrived in Memphis around 3:00. They came by my school and met my first graders. My little ones loved meeting them, especially because they brought them prizes! For dinner we went to Central. Everyone wants some delicious bbq whenever they are in town.
Friday, while Travis and I went to school, Mom and Dad went to Tunica. Doesn't seem fair does it? That night we had big plans...go to the Orpheum to see WICKED. I saw it two summers ago with some girlfriends and couldn't wait to see it again. We took Mom and Dad in February to see Jersey Boys. They loved it and said they wanted to go see another play so WICKED was the perfect choice.
My handsome Daddy-O

Blessed to have such wonderful parents.
Love me some Janny!
I had a total brain fart this week and totally forgot to book us reservations at a fancy smancy restaurant. We decided on the Flying Fish. It is walking distance from the Orpheum, wasn't very crowded and gave us plenty of time to eat and hang out without being rushed.
I was so excited about seeing the show again. I've been singing the songs for weeks!!
Good lookin' group if I must say so myself.
Success! Everyone loved the show. What show should we see next?
Saturday, was Elvis day.
There it is...Graceland.
The pictures inside the house didn't turn out that great. You are not allowed to use flash, boo! Let me tell you, Elvis had crazy style.
Living room to your right as soon as you walk in the front door.
The stairs I soooo badly wanted to run up. I was disappointed that you cannot tour the upstairs.
I thought this was a beautiful picture. I loved learning about Priscilla just as much as Elvis.
Formal dinning room.
N.E.R.D.S.
Kitchen
This room was covered with fabric. It was pretty cool.
Part of the living room that is downstairs. It was pretty strange. Lots of wildlife.
This was Vernon's, Elvis's Dad, office. It was outside in a separate building.
The parentals by the barn.
A separate building houses some of his records. Ooohh how I wish those were mine.
Again, nerd.
The clothes they wore on their wedding day.
Pool. We watched several videos of the family enjoying their time poolside.
Again, another different building. This was his playroom.
They said that he was playing this piano and singing with friends on the morning that he died.
This used to be a racquet ball court.
His Meditation Garden and where he is buried.
Elvis loved his cars. I took a picture of one. This is the car he bought for Priscilla.
Taking Care of Business. That was his saying. While on a plane with Priscilla, he was talking about making a logo with TCB. He couldn't decide what symbol to use. At that moment, lightening lit up the sky and he knew he wanted to use a lightening bolt.
He has TCB everywhere and even on both of his planes.
The cockpit on the Lisa Marie.
(The other pictures I took were pretty dark.)
The plane is huge!
After spending a few hours educating ourselves about the King of Rock-n-Roll we headed back to the house to cheer on the DUKE Blue Devils.
Sunday morning my parents headed back to East Tennessee. We had a great weekend with them. I miss them being here already. Thanks Mom and Dad for a fabulous weekend! We love you.
We hope everyone had as much fun as we did this weekend.
Happy Halloween!
