5K

First 5K done.  It felt great.  I first talked about it here...I cannot believe it is over.

We finished in 39 minutes.  We were 162, 163, 164 out of 375.  Lynsi was about 100 people ahead of us.  She ran the entire race, we on the other hand ran and walked a little...

Here we are about to cross the finish line...

Literally about 2 minutes after crossing the finish line.

"Lauren's #1 Fan!"

Our first 5K together, definitely not our last!

Look who came to cheer us on!  Our husbands were waiting for us at the finish line.  They are so proud of us!!  We really appreciate them getting up early after a long hard week.

look who is here

My cousin, Marcus, is in town!  He is here for work and a little bit of play.  He's here promoting the Lady Devils who are in town for the tournament.

We picked him and his friend, Pete, up at their hotel and took them to dinner.  Where did we take them?  Central BBQ of course.  They got to meet some of our friends and hang out at the house for awhile.

We have plans to see him more this weekend.  Hopefully, they will be in town until Monday (if the Devils win).  Keep your fingers crossed, I don't get to see him often.  We do live about 10+ hours away from each other.  I am enjoying my time with him!!

p.s.
Travis took part one today!!  He is done!  He is now on spring break for the next week or so. He is living large right about now.  Now we are just playing the waiting game...can't wait to hear the results.  Thanks to everyone who sent prayers his way.

the little things

...are always the best!

This morning, one of my sweetest little girls came bouncing in our class with a huge smile on her face.  Behind her back she had these....

She said, "they are for you, Mrs. Sisco, I picked them myself!"  She was so proud of her flowers and let everyone smell them.  It was a great morning and truly made my day.

I got home, talked to the man of the house for a minute, went for a walk with the girls, and came back to see this hanging on our fridge....

Travis' parents, sister, and niece sent him a card.  It is full of words of encouragement.  They wrote a sweet little note inside just to let him know how much they are thinking about him.  I know this made his day, too.

Tomorrow is it...

We are both feeling loved right about now.  =)

breath of fresh air

Today was a great day.

We slept in.  Took Reecie for a walk.  Went to Bogie's for lunch.  Were planning to see a movie  but spent the rest of the day outside in the sunshine instead.

Travis has been studying for three weeks straight.  He's been a little stressed...a day with no books and lots of fresh air was exactly what he needed.

He takes the first part of his National Boards in exactly five days.  (Keep him in your prayers.)

We hope everyone has a great weekend.  Happy spring!

a new home

I am so excited to tell about the new piece of furniture we have in our house.  Let me give you the background...It was my Great Granddaddy Stevens, my Mamaw Oran's dad.  I love hearing stories about him, it's easy to tell how much he loved his family.  We know it was made sometime before 1929 because he purchased it from the Dame Furniture Company in Harriman, Tennessee.  The furniture company was washed away during a flood in 1929.  So needless to say, this is truly a special table.  While helping my Mom go through somethings in her basement over Thanksgiving, I saw it.  Before remodeling the house, Mom had it in their formal living room.  During all of the remodeling it was put downstairs in the basement.  She wasn't sure what she was going to use it for now.  I said, "I would love to have it!  It will look great in my bedroom."  We have a huge wall that has been empty and in dier need of some decoration and love.  Mom and Dad took it to get finished and a few months later it was ready!  I've been patiently waiting to see the finished product.  I got to bring it back with me when I went home over spring break.  I love it.

Thanks Family for letting me borrow it.  I promise to give it lots of TLC.

my favorite little lady

I've spent the past few days surrounding myself with everything Josie.  I try to take advantage of every minute I get to spend with her.  She changes so much every time I see her.  Mom and I kept her on Monday and Tuesday.  It was great spending my time with her.  We played, danced, sang, walked many laps around the kitchen, celebrated her birthday, ate Cheerios, watched Dinosaur Train, and pretended to be hippies.  I've been wanting to make her flower headbands.  I haven't had much luck finding good/cute headbands.  I recently bought three big flower pins at Michael's.  Josie received some adorable headbands from Hayley for her birthday.  Monday night, Lauren and Nick came over to visit and eat dinner.  Lauren and I started playing around making flower headbands.

Josie not so sure about this enormous flower on her head.

Flower Power.

Tuesday morning, looking rough while Miss Josie feeds herself a bottle.

Granny Janny teaching Josie "Patty Cake".

Look at her cute little booty!!

Saying good-bye to my little love.  See you at Easter Josie B.  I love you.

again...

Sushi, seriously, twice within a week?! Crazy. I know. I met one of my oldest friends, Jewya as her mom says, tonight for a little shopping and dinner. We haven't hung out just the two of us in what seems like forever. It. Was. Great. I've been bumming rides with Mom everywhere while I have been home, letting my car rest. So tonight kinda felt a little like the old days, being dropped off with friends and then picked up later by your parents. Anyways, Mom dropped me off at Target to meet up with Julia. We did some shopping around Turkey Creek and then went to dinner. I mentioned to her how I had just recently tried sushi for my friend, Lauren, on her birthday. Julia also loves sushi and loves a little restaurant called Stir Fry. Apparently, it's been there for a long time I just never went. Shame. She had me try her three favorites: California Roll, Brooklyn Roll, and Dream Roll. They were all pretty good. The Dream Roll lives up to its name for sure. It was amazing!! I told Lauren about my second experience with sushi, she is very proud of me. The three hours I spent with Julia were pure therapy. We can go for weeks being crazy busy and not having the chance to talk on the phone. To going to dinner and falling right back where we left off. I love you friend.

Happy Birthday to You!

Prepare for Josie overload!  Yesterday, March 14, we celebrated Miss Josie's first birthday.  She doesn't actually turn one until next Monday, March 22 but I will be back in school by then.  My sweet sister planned her party for this weekend because it worked out better for Aunt Kayla and Aunt Mary!  Thanks for thinking of us.

I've been helping Sum plan for a little over 4 months now.  When they came down to Memphis back in January, we went shopping for party supplies.  We've been ready and excited about this day for a long time.  The party went off without a hitch and was a blast.  I can't believe it is over.

The Sisco's present to Josie.  Summer knew that I had Josie a dress, she didn't know that my super talented friend, Lauren, was monogramming Josie Belle on the dress.  It turned out super cute and Josie looked adorable in it!

Josie's gift from Uncle Trav and Aunt Kayla.  We missed you at the party Uncle Trav, study hard!  We love you.

Josie's giant cupcake.

We had four dozen of the most adorable cupcakes ever.  Thank you Carly!  They are delicious.  I have had several.  =)

Party favors for all of the little ones...

Getting creative with the party hats.

Balloons and banner!

Josie B. ready for her big day.

I am so glad that I had the chance to visit with my friend, Julia.  She came and enjoyed the party with us.

Introducing....Miss Pissy Pants.  Josie didn't quite know what to do when all 30 people starred at her and starting singing "Happy Birthday".  I don't think she liked it, do you?

She did love her cupcake though.

Opening all of her presents.

Aunt Mary had a book made for Josie.  It is precious.

Happy Birthday Josie B.  We love you very much.

sushi surprise

I know I say it all the time and I am sure some of you get tired of reading it but I am beyond blessed to be surrounded by some of the most wonderful, supportive, loving, friendliest, just the best women.  I was scared to death moving to Memphis.  Not scared of change but scared of being alone and not having my best friends around me, like I was used to.  I can say, without a doubt, that my life is as great as it is today because of the women in my life.  We are all in this together and have created a great friendship.

We love getting together for anything!  Seriously anything, Mondays for the Bachelor, Thursdays for Greys, any weekend when the boys are studying, dinners at Chick-Fil-A, Target trips, and so much more.  I would have to say that one of our favorite little tradition is birthday celebrations.  We surprise the birthday girl and celebrate together.  This time it was for Lauren.  Her birthday is this Saturday, March 13.  She will be...25!!  She is heading to the beach with her family on Saturday so we decided to celebrate a few days early.

We took her to Seize the Clay.  Everyone created the cutest things!  I cannot wait to see the final products.

After painting, we surprised her yet again.  This girl loves loves loves sushi and has been wanting us to all go together sometime soon.  We thought, why not?  Everyone tried at least one piece (do you call sushi a piece, I don't know).  Lauren let me try two different ones!  I must admit, they were pretty tasty.

After sushi, we went back to the Puryears.  Julie made some amazing cupcakes!  We sang and celebrated a little bit longer...

Chip, Lauren, and precious Houston.

Make a wish!

Happy Happy Birthday!

We had a great night!  Lauren, I hope your birthday celebration was wonderful.  I love our friendship and I love you!  =)
