6 weeks...

Asher is 6 weeks old today. Life with him gets better everyday. He is growing and changing every second of the day. I look back at pictures when he was born and I cannot remember him being so little.
I officially diagnosed myself with "momma brain" today. Asher and I loaded up this morning to go to my 6 week check-up. After signing in at the doctor's office, the lady informs me that my appointment was yesterday and that my doctor isn't in the office on Wednesday's because it's his surgery day. They were going to try and work us in but it was taking too long and little man was getting hungry. We go back next week.. let's hope I go on the correct day.
Asher patiently waiting with me in the doctor's office.
Asher loves our bed! He loves laying in the middle of it and kicking and wiggling around. Asher is finally getting on more of a schedule now. We do a bath every night around 9:00-9:30. We feed and then put him to bed. He is asleep by 10:30 most nights. He normally wakes up around 2:30 for a middle of the night feeding and then sleeps until about 7:00. After our morning feeding, I put him in the bed with me and we snuggle and go back to sleep for about 2 more hours. This is probably one of my favorite parts of the day. Starting everyday loving on my little love is a perfect way to get the day started..

Asher is such a happy baby. He smiles all the time and is starting to coo a little bit. Trav can make him laugh and smile like crazy. You can tell that Asher knows his Daddy, loves him and thinks he's silly. Of course he has fussy moments but those are getting better and better. It's all about finding that perfect spot/perfect way to hold him to help him calm down.

A few things he loves? Things he could do without?
He loves his new paci. I hate the looks of it but it soothes him so I love it, too.
He hates to be cold.
He loves his swing. He takes his first morning nap in it every day.
He loves his vibrating chair. He normally takes an afternoon nap in it.
He hates it when his belly hurts... but
He loves to lay on his Daddy's lap and have Trav move his legs back and forth in a bicycle motion.
That helps his belly.
He used to hate to be swaddled, now he sleeps much better at night when we swaddle him.
He loves to be talked to and listening to his Momma sing! =)
He loves his car seat and taking rides.
He loves taking warm baths.
He hates it when his hat falls over his eyes.
He loves going for walks and falling asleep along the way.
He hates to have a wet diaper but a poopy diaper doesn't bother him. Weird, I know.
He loves listening to stories and looking at the colorful pages.
He loves laying on our chests and lifting his head.
He hates to have his hands covered.

Baby Mohawk.

January 21 was my Dad's 60th birthday!! I'm so sad that I wasn't there to see him on his actual birthday but we are heading East tomorrow and will celebrate then. Asher told his Papaw happy birthday on the iPad..

what's asher up to these days?

Asher is growing so much and so fast that I can hardly believe it. I don't have much time to blog because this little man keeps me busy all day! So prepare yourself for Asher overload..
As of 11:26 this morning... He is now 5 weeks old. WOW! Cannot believe this little guy has been in our lives for over a month.
We've had a lot going on the past few weeks. A lot of first...
(The pictures are in no certain order.)
Today we took our first trip to Momma's favorite place...
Can you tell where we are by the shopping cart?
Yep, Target. Man, have I missed that place. I haven't been since he was born..
This trip was much different then ant other trip I've made to Target. We went with our friends, Julie and Kate. (We love hanging out with them. We see them almost everyday.) We met the Dad's for lunch at Chick-Fil-A and then we headed to Target. It felt so nice just to walk around and "rub" as my Mom likes to say. As we were leaving, Asher got fussy and I decided to change him when we got to the car. I thought about changing him while in Target but he fell back asleep and I didn't want to unhook him from his car seat and wake him. Well, I should have changed him inside because did I have a messy surprise waiting for me!! He had a major pooplosion! It was all up his back, coming through his white onesie and in his car seat. Nice. I felt terrible because I thought about not changing him and seeing if he could make it home because he had stopped fussing. Poor boy had poop everywhere..
We made it home and as I was feeding him he peed all over me. I'm guessing that in the craziness to get the disaster diaper off and new one on I didn't get it on very well. So within an hour and had on three different outfits.
So, our first Target trip and first poop explosion!
Travis gave Asher his first bottle the other night. I didn't realize how much I love nursing him until I saw him take a bottle. I was terrified to let him try a bottle. I was afraid he wouldn't want to come back to me. He did come back to me though. Love.

My parents were here for a few days last week and Mom and I took Asher to Babies R Us. This was his actual first outing. We went to McAlister's for lunch and then a little shopping. He was a trooper and slept the entire trip. Success.

Is it wrong for me to love his sad face?

He doesn't like laying on his belly, unless it's on some one's chest. We've tried laying him on a little play mat but he hated it. He lifts his neck like crazy when he's snuggling on your chest. His neck muscles are so strong. He was lifting his head the day he was born. We will try tummy time on a mat later but for now we use our chests instead.

I absolutely love this sweet little face. I could stare at him all day long. I used to laugh at the thought of sitting and staring at a baby all day long. Once you have a little love of your own, it all makes sense.

I think he looks so big in this picture. He looks so long. This outfit no longer fits him. It is too short. We loved it while it lasted..
The blanket he is laying on was made for him by Trav's little Granny. We love this blanket.

Asher loves and I mean loves his GJ. She is so good to him.

Checking out his future bed. We aren't sure when we will move him into his crib. The thought of him being in a different room scares me. It means he's getting too old. Right now he is right beside the bed in his bassinet and that's where he is going to stay. For a little while anyways.

Big.Belly. I weighed myself the other day and then weighed myself with him. According to the scale he weighs 10lbs!!! He was born 7lb 9oz. I cannot wait to go for his 2 month check-up and see how much he has grown.

We went to lunch the other day with Julie and Kate. Told you, we see them a lot. We love looking in the backseat and seeing these two little ones sound asleep.
Travis and Asher having a talk. Asher loves to be talked to. He just stares and concentrates. I swear he knows exactly what you are saying.
Here Trav is promising to buy him a new Jeep when he is 16 if he sleeps really good. He slept like a rock that night and I will remind Trav of his promise.
Asher turned 1 month on Saturday!
(Thanks Auntie Jewya for the monthly onesies!)

Snapping a quick family photo.
I decided that I'm going to snap a few photos of little man every morning. He is so incredibly content in the mornings. Each morning when he wakes up, I pull him in the bed with me. I feed him and then we snuggle for a few minutes. Then we read a book or two, play with a few little toys, sing a song and have a mini-photo shoot.
Here are a few pictures from the past few days.

Smiling like crazy. He smiles now everyday. He smiles at his Daddy a lot. They are crazy about each other.

Serious eyebrows. I think he is telling me that he has had enough pictures for the day.

Yep, he is tired of the camera.
I love hanging out with this little boy!
Sweetness. I love him in white. Too bad this is the white onesies he destroyed while at Target. Remember the pooplosion?
Hey there friends!
Showing him pictures of him while he was in my belly!
I warned you about Asher overload!! Thanks for hanging in there and reading all the way to the bottom. I will try to get better and post more often with less pictures..
Happy Wednesday.

catching up

Wow. Life has changed so much over the past 24 days. We are loving every minute with our little man. I honestly don't remember what life was like before him..
He is now 3 weeks and 3 days. I don't have a 3 week picture with him on his blanket. On Wednesday, the day he turned 3 weeks, he started having a growth spurt. Well, that's what we are calling it because he had every thing on the check list. Wednesday and Thursday were hard for little man. He was either hungry or fussy. He would get very tired but couldn't sleep. When we would finally calm down to sleep it had to be on my chest (which was the sweetest thing!). He was still sleeping and feeding good at night which was a blessing. But for two days, his schedule was crazy during the daytime. Trav's Mom has been here all week and helped me a lot while Trav was at school. {Sidenote: Trav's last first day was on Monday. He is officially in his last semester of dental school!!!! We are extremely excited about that!} Ok, back to Asher. We woke up on Friday and it was all back to normal. Asher went back to his normal 2.5-3 hour feeding schedule and was his happy and content little self. I'm thankful that we got through those two days and am not excited about the next growth spurt.. =)
Here are few pictures from the past week or so.
This is who I get to spend my days with...

It's a hard life..

Taking advantage of the 66 degree weather and going for a walk with Julie and Kate.

Travis surprised me this week with a necklace. The blue little jewel is the December birthstone. Asher and I are both December babies! Oh yeah-I turned 28 on December 23!! I almost forgot about that!

Excited about it being 2012.

Meeting Shivers for the first time. They are going to be great buddies and I cannot wait to see them play together.

Merry Christmas! We spent the entire day at home in our pjs.

A few days after Christmas, some of the Cutcliffe clan came by to meet Asher. I'm so glad they got to see him while he's so little.

See Courtney's little bitty baby bump? She has 2 little loves growing inside.
I cannot wait for Babies McShan to get here in June!
His first real bath. He loved the warm frog towel!!
We hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year. Ours was by far the best yet!!
