duke rock star..

We spent this past weekend with family and cheering on the DUKE Blue Devils.  I couldn't wait to take Asher to his first football game.  We skipped right past high school football and went to the big leagues.  He loved every minute and was seriously amazing the entire weekend.  Total rock star, this kid.

Friday morning we loaded all  of his gear and were on our way to Durham.  He decided he didn't want to ride in his car seat facing the back anymore..

He is not used to people sitting in the back with him.  He didn't want to sleep when he had GJ and Mommy to play with in the backseat.  He finally gave it up and slept twice for about 1.5 hour total.

We met Karen and Emily at the Mall to eat dinner and do a little shopping.  My Mamaw Oran calls Asher a "mall watcher" because he is always watching everyone and is quite nosey.  He completely lived up to his name and is an expert mall watcher.

We strolled around a little after dinner.

We stumbled upon this guy doing tricks.  Asher was amazed.

Wouldn't take his eyes off of the juggler.

Once we got back to Karen and David's house, these two went to catch up on Days of Our Lives.  Losers.  Can you tell they are sisters?

This picture makes me smile because this is totally Summer and Me in a few years.  We will be watching Kendra instead of Days..

Saturday was game day!  We got there around 12:30, right in time for the Devil Walk.

Waiting on the team..

I was a little nervous when the band came by leading the walk.  Sometimes Asher isn't a fan of really loud noises.  He didn't mind one bit.

David stopped by and talked to Asher for a second.  D didn't get to see Asher the night before, little man was already in bed when he got home.

After the walk, we did a lot of eating, playing and strolling Asher around DUKE.

Asher, Mom and Myself watched the first quarter from the stands.  We found a shady spot and camped out for a while.  Travis and Dad started the game on the field.

Asher loved watching the game and cheering loud when DUKE scored!

We took him to the box for the second quarter.  It was nice to get him out of the heat for a while..

Snuggling with his GJ.

Cheering with Aunt KK.

During the fourth quarter, Mom decided she wanted to go on the field.  She had never been.  See her and my Dad standing in the end zone?  How cute are they?

DUKE got the W against Virginia, 42-17.  It was such a great game.

We took Asher down on the field as soon as the game was over.

The crowd was waiting on Conner Vernon to leave the field.  He became the ACC's All-Time Leader in Receptions during this game.  Glad we were their to witness it.  He is an incredible athlete.

After the game, we were inside waiting to see David and give him a big congratulatory hug.  Asher loved watching all the big football players come by.  My Uncle gives Trav and my Dad All-Access passes whenever we are there.  Travis took advantage of it and took Asher into the locker room when the game was over.  He got to see and hear the team celebrate their win.

Still waiting...

Marcus was making him laugh, laugh, laugh.

While waiting, John Mellencamp came by.  His son is a walk-on so he has become a regular at DUKE games this year.  He was very friendly.  He signed one of his old records for my Dad, gave Asher a fist bump and smiled for a picture.

There he is.  Our favorite Coach!

So glad Pickell and Ashley got to meet my little man.  I meant to take a picture of all of us together earlier but didn't have my camera.

Standing in the tunnel that leads to the field.  Maybe Asher will be dressed in blue, wearing pads walking down this tunnel one day?  Maybe..

I think we turned him into a true football fan after this weekend.

So the next morning, while eating breakfast and packing up to hit the road.  We turn on ESPN to catch the highlights.  ESPN shows the DUKE game highlights and look who pops up in the screen...

Do you see who is on the left side?  Yep.  Travis and Jimbo.  We laughed so hard at this picture.  All you can see are Trav's pearly whites and my Dad's stache.  My Dad is always trying to get some camera time.  He finally succeeded.  ha.

Asher with Katie and Em.  I know this picture is blurry but Asher's face is too funny not to share.

We headed home around 11:00.  Asher lasted about 10 minutes in the car before passing out.  He was so so tired.  This boy was a total ROCK STAR on Saturday.  He was out and about from 12:00-7:30.  He only had a 20 minute nap on the way to the game.  He never once fussed or cried.  He was happy, smiling and loving life the entire day.  He was amazing and we are so grateful that he was perfect all day long.  We knew he would be good but we had no idea he would be such a trooper.

I've always love going to games and spending the day tailgating, cheering and doing all things football.  But I must say, this past weekend was the best one yet.  Watching Asher soak it all in and have so much fun was wonderful.  I see many more games in our future!

Worn out and heading home.

Go DUKE!!
